Visitors: "Friends of Son Life"

Visitors are always welcome at Son Life Worship Services and social functions.
We hope that you will take some time to explore our website too. Below we have put together some answers to the most common questions we receive from visitors to our church. If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at sonlifelutheran@bellsouth.net

Whatever brings you to Son Life - curious about the church with the funny looking bell tower, looking for a new church home, visiting with friends or family - we are blessed to have you with us.

Do I have to be a member, or Lutheran, to attend service?
No... we welcome both active Christians -of all denominations - and non-churched to our Worship services. We openly share our faith in Christ with everyone.

What should I expect during Worship service?
The printed order of service (bulletin) details every hymn, response (spoken not chanted) and prayer. Just follow along! We stand when appropriate, not kneel (except at the commuinion rail - if you are able). We share the peace of the Lord. We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday (common cup, individual cups and grape juice are available). Invalid? Infirm? Just ask one of the Elders or ushers and Pastor will bring the elements to you where you are seated. Smart casual dress is just as appropriate as collar and tie. Families with young children? ...of course you are welcome (more)! You'll find it warmer towards the outside of the sanctuary, cooler towards the center aisle (it's how the A/C blows!). You are invited to sign our visitors book by the entrance (narthex) and join us for "coffee & cake fellowship" immediately following the service.

I'm a snowbird wintering in the area; do I have to transfer my home church membership to Son Life?
No... you are free to choose your church up north or Son Life as your home church. We welcome all seasonal visitors and vacationers as Friends of Son Life. You may take Associate Membership at Son Life if you wish to retain your (full) membership elsewhere.

There's another Lutheran church closer to my home... shouldn't I attend there?
LCMS churches don't use the parish boundary system. You're not obligated to attend a church only in your home town or zip code. Our members come from all over Palm Beach county! More...

Should I become a member?
Only members (communicants aged 18 years or older) can vote in church matters such as election of officers. Only voting members may hold office. Members have the privelege to attend divine services regularly, partake of Holy Communion frequently, live a morally decent life before God and men, submit to the Constitution and By-Laws of Son Life, and place their God-given talents, abilities and resources at the disposal of the Pastor and officers.

If you are interested in becoming a member of Son Life, or have more questions, please contact Pastor Johnson at pastorjohnd@bellsouth.net or call 738-LIFE.
