Son Life's Women in Mission are members of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) - the official women's auxiliary of the LCMS with a membership of almost 200,000 The mission of the Fla-Ga district LWML is "to share the love of Christ with women of all ages and diversities and to foster a recognition that the mission field exists both at home and abroad."

Events

September 25-27, 2009 FL/GA District LWML Retreat at Sirata Beach Resort. The theme of the Retreat is "Feed My Lambs... Feed My Sheep."  The keynote speaker will be Dawn Schalow. Retreats are meant to renew us spiritually, so please plan to attend. Refer to the web-site: http://www.flgalwml.com and  http://www.sirata.com for registration and hotel reservation. The LWML encourages Women In Mission to attend the Retreat. The early registration before August 15, 2009 is $95 per person and $105 on August 16 and later. Pastors rate at $60; YWR/Teen LWML at $60; Hotel Traditional Rooms: $104 per room, 2 queen beds, sleeps 4; Studio Rooms: $114.00 per room, 2 queen beds, full kitchen, based on availability; Traditional Suites: $124.00 per room, 1 king or 2 queens, living room with pull out sofa, full kitchen, based on availability.

October 17, 2009: LWML invites our ladies to join us at the Fall Rally at Son Life Lutheran Church in Boynton Beach. The registration fee is $8 per person which includes breakfast and lunch. Publications

Lutheran Women's Quarterly: the official LWML magazine that is distributed to each member, and features articles on missions, eucation and Bible Studies.
The Evangel: newsletter of the Fla-Ga LWML district. Filled with news from around the district, it is distributed as part of the Quarterly magazine.
The Lutheran Life: offical newspaper of the Fla-Ga district LCMS. It regularly features district events of the LWML.
LifeLine: Son Life's own members' newsletter features two full pages every month of LWML news and information.

Mission Grants

For the past 60 years the LWML has been encouraging and equippping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission minitries and to financially support global mission projects. Mission grants are selected by delegates at each district and national convention. MITE boxes are used to collect funds needed to support these projects. MITES are sent to the district level with 75% for district missions and 25% for mission grants at the national level. Pick up a Mite box at the Church entrance.
